Hello and welcome to my bootleg DVD trade page. Support the artists, buy their official releases. But when you've got them all and want more where do you go? You trade "bootlegs" such as audience recordings and shows broadcast on TV and the like. I've bought a DVD burner for my computer a while back and I'm keen to keep expanding my collection of such shows (below).
For those who have found this page and are new to Bootleg trading let me briefly clarify the difference between bootlegging and pirating as I see it: Pirating is the copying of legitimately copyrighted works, usually for sale, whereas Bootlegs are not legitimately copyrighted. There are some people who will produce unofficial releases for profit hence the origin of the term but most bootleg exchange is now done on a not for profit 1:1 exchange among fans and collectors. Some bands and artists are happy to have audience recording traded among their fans on a not for profit basis, others are less generous. A small proportion of traders are prepared to copy their official recordings for trade but although I have occasionally unwittingly picked up these in trades I do not trade them. What I want:
The stuff I'm primarily Interested in includes: The Who, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Oasis, Dire Straits, Queen and Tina Turner. But if you haven't got
any of them to trade send me your list anyway as you never know what may tempt me (Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin and lots of others) or
anything else that I may think suitable to build up my Bootleg trade list. If nothing else I may be interested in some audio trades or if I've got
something you really want then some maybe I might do a B/P type deal.
CD-R Audio:
I have a small audio boot list but find I don't get time to listen to CD's as much as I would like so I'm not usually initiating audio trades but if you
want anything I've got send me your list or a link to it and maybe we can work out a trade.
Trade Rules:
If you're interested in any of the below I'm happy to follow the normal trading etiquette: If You contact me you send first, if I contact you I'll
send first. Name brand disks, not write on disks, exchange in packaging of your choice, I will usually post Discs in sleves, only unless there is a
prior arrangement otherwise, I'm expect you will send disks only. I will replace any bad discs no matter how long after the trade (as long as it's
notyour scratches etc.) and if it ever happens and I expect you to do the same.
Disks:
I am happy with either DVD+ Ror -R but I have found +R's the most reliable in one of my players but it's no problem if you send DVD-R. Please
burn at around 4x. Most people use DVD-R and I will send DVD-R unless you ask me otherwise. I currently mostly use Imation DVD-R or
TDK+/-R. I can easily get Mitsubushi, Verbatium, sometimes Emtec and DVD+R if that suits. I don't usually use printable discs but will on request
- just ask. I'm not particular on what you send as long it's a good brand and you have found It works well - and you're prepared to replace
anything bad. Please let me know if you have a preference especially if you are one of those people who don't like Imation. I don't use printables
unless you ask for them. Current Stocks: TDK - Plain & Colored disks
Hardware:
I have recemtly upgraded my burner to a Pioneer - after several failures with an Emperex (BTC) drive. My older BTC drive still works well and I
sometime burn on it as well. I Burn with Nero at 4x with verify on after copying the files to my hard drive, sometimes I will use DVD Decryptor
at 4X, also with verfiy on. We have several TV's, our palyers are a Mustex,an Ideal, and a Phillips DVD recorder and a PS2, I find that
occassionally discs I am sent won't play on some Players but I have found copying and reburning seems to solve most problems.
PAL/NTSC:
I haven't always kept track but most will be NTSC but if it's not stated and it's important to you ask me to be sure. I'm slowly going back
through my list updating missing information when I can. My TV system is sufficently new that It doesn't care about PAL/NTSC and adjusts
automatically so I'm not particular about format but it means I don't need to know either. Generally shows sourced originally from the US or Japan
are NTSC and those from Europe are PAL but as conversion is quite easy some shows have been converted.
Cover art & Setlists:
I'm not bothered about cover art, sometimes I'll make a Jewel case front cover, I usually use The Easy CD Creator cover package. If I haven't
listed the setlist I may still have it so ask. Feel free to use any picture or setlist listed for any DVD on my list.

Info: To some of my discs I have added new accurate chapters & menus when the version in circulation or that came to me didn't have them: MC - Menus & Accurate Chapters, AC Accurate Chapters - No menus, FC - Fixed length Chapters, No menus, +MC or +M - My added menus & chapters, SA - copied on a standalone somewhere in it's history - assume fixed chapters (FC) unless indicated otherwise, NC - no chapters (rare). It's not always easy to tell if a copy is a standalone copy of a DVD or a tape transfer to a standalone recorder - often a standalone copy of a DVD has reduced volume levels - if I have added menus and chapters I will almost always have normalized the audio. Rating system is more or less as others have graded these shows. The rating system is more about technical quality than show quality so
source (Pro/TV/Aud) must be taken into account. Please let me know any errors and omissions so that they can be rectified promptly.
A++ - Excellent modern digital source, A+ Master or near Master tape source, A - Quality loss may be due to poorer picture maybe due to higher
generation tape or occasional tape loss etc, A- Picture getting poor or other defects, A-- not bad enough for B+, B+ Poor picture etc, B
poorer picture, B- - really poor picture, C - almost unwatchable - for real fans only. Other defects may be noted and the rating may refer to the
DVD picture transfer quality and for old shows not the source quality (eg Who Houston 75, Genesis Shepperton 73).
For Aud shots I may add a grade as e.g. Aud/B where the grade is and overall guide to the quality of the filming (heads, jerkiness, on target etc.
